Kintner House Inn, Corydon, Indiana, Christmas of 2023

Discovering a Historic Gem

When planning our trip to Corydon, Indiana, we wanted something special—an experience beyond the typical hotel stay. That's when we discovered the Kintner House Inn, a beautifully preserved piece of history dating back to 1873. After a loving restoration in 1986, this charming bed and breakfast became a cornerstone of downtown Corydon's revitalization.
Visiting during the Christmas season made the experience even more magical. Every room tells a story, and the historic architecture combined with festive decorations created an atmosphere that was truly unforgettable. Want to learn more? Check out the full history of this remarkable inn.

Step Into History

Each room at the Kintner House Inn is a unique experience, thoughtfully designed to blend historical charm with modern comfort. As I wandered through the house, I was struck by how inviting each space felt. The attention to detail is remarkable—authentic period pieces, original fireplaces, and even gorgeous clawfoot tubs in select rooms!

A Christmas Wonderland

Stepping into the Kintner House during the holidays is like walking into a Victorian Christmas card! Every corner sparkles with carefully curated decorations, from stunning Christmas trees adorned with unique ornaments to elegant garlands and festive centerpieces. The level of artistry and attention to detail is absolutely inspiring—I found myself taking photos at every turn, trying to capture the magic. Trust me, if you love the holidays, you'll want to experience this in person!

The Little Things That Make It Special
Throughout the inn, I couldn't help but notice the exquisite glass decorations and lamps that added an elegant touch to every room. While I didn't confirm it, I suspect many pieces came from Zimmerman's Art Glass in Corydon—a place that holds childhood memories for me from elementary school field trips. After a devastating fire, they rebuilt and continue creating stunning glass art that perfectly complements the inn's historic character.
Every detail matters here: custom door signs for each room, antique shaving tables, writing desks, and authentic period furnishings that transport you back in time. These thoughtful touches show how much care goes into preserving the inn's authenticity while ensuring guest comfort.
But let's talk about breakfast! The innkeeper greeted us early with the most delicious homemade spread: fluffy cheese omelettes, crispy hash browns, fresh toast, seasonal fruit, and steaming coffee with fresh-squeezed orange juice. It was so filling and satisfying that I didn't need lunch for the drive home!
From start to finish, our stay exceeded expectations. The Kintner House Inn is more than just a place to sleep—it's a destination that offers a glimpse into history with all the comforts of modern hospitality. I'm already looking forward to returning, perhaps during a different season to see how they transform the space throughout the year. 😊
